An abnormality in the development of the penis, this is a common disorder affecting 1 in 150 males, and ranges in severity from mild to complex.

The abnormality may include an abnormal urinary opening position, deficient foreskin, penile curvature and scrotal abnormalities.

The vast majority of hypospadias operations can be performed as a day case, though for the more complex ones they may require an overnight stay.

 

Contrary to previous surgical opinion, the foreskin while typically not completely formed, does not need to be discarded, and Dr Rampersad offers foreskin reconstructive procedures and has published research on this topic.
